Dhaka, February 24: Reigning champions Chittgaong Abahani Ltd. staged a remarkable fight-back to seal a last four spot in the ongoing Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup 2017 with a 2-2 draw against Manang Marshyangdi Club of Nepal on Friday afternoon.
At the MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong, the home team were trailing 0-2 after only 22 minutes.
Zambian forward of the Nepalese outfit Azeef Oladipo struck twice to put his team on a two goal cushion. But displaying superb teamwork, Ctg. Abahani managed to seal a spot in the semis with a 2-2 draw.
Ctg. Abahani were shell-shocked in the 3rd minute when Oladipo headed the ball home from close range (0-1).
In the 22nd minute, Oladipo struck again after shrugging off his marker Nasiruddin Chowdhury and hitting the far post net (0-2).
Not to be bobbed down, Chittagong Abahani came back into the game in the 32nd minute as Nasiruddin Chowdhury amended his mistake to reduce the deficit for his team with a low header (1-2).
Then Ctg. Abahani's Haitian forward Augustine Walson converted a spot kick in the 62nd minute to restore parity in the match (2-2).
Late in the second half, both the teams saw one of their efforts rock the opponent's crosspiece.
Chittagong Abahani go through to the semis with five points in their bag while Manang earned four to complete their group campaign.
