Dhaka, February 24: Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited took the exit door of Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup 2017 despite beating Shaheen Asmayee FC of Afghanistan 2-1 at the MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong on Friday evening.
Despite winning the last match of the group stage, Mohammedan finished neck to neck with Manang Marshyangdi of Nepal with four points. But as per the by-laws, the winner of the head to head duel proceed to the semis and Manang reaped the fruit of beating Mohammedan 2-0 in the clubs' first match.
Dawda Ceesay, the Gambian forward of Mohammedan netted twice in the 32nd and 69th minute while Amiruddin Sharifi reduced the deficit in the 88th minute from the spot.
Chittagong Abahani earlier topped the group with five points and emerged as the group champions.
