Dhaka, February 28: Holders Chittagong Abahani Limited bowed out of Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup 2017 with a 2-1 loss to Pocheon Citizen FC in the second semi final on Tuesday evening.
Brazilian forward Thiago Tyson Silva let Chittagong Abahani down in the fifth minute as he failed to place a deflected shot of skipper Mamunul Islam from the six-yard box.
Jamal Bhuiyan put the hosts ahead in 23rd minute with an opportunistic strike. Mamunul Islam’s corner from the right flag deceived the Pocheon defence inside the box and unmarked Jamal’s simple tap was enough to hit the back of the net (1-0).
However, Pocheon went more aggressive after conceding a goal and in the 31st minute, an overhead effort by captain Cho Tae Woo hit the woodwork much to the dismay of the Koreans.
Pocheon finally restored the parity two minutes before the first half when forward Jang Yong Ik sent Rana the wrong way from the spot after Mufta Lawal gave the opponents a penalty fouling Park Seung Ryeol inside the box (1-1).
Then, in the very first minute of after the break, Park Seung Ryeol struck the second with a cracking right footer from the top of the box (2-1).
The score line remained unchanged till the end as Chittagong Abahani failed to rise to the occasion.
Pocheon will meet TC Sports of Maldives in the final on Friday next.
