Dhaka, March 30: Sponsored by Saif Power Tec Limited, the 34th edition of Dhaka Mahanagori Senior Division Football League is all set to start on 31.03.2017 (Friday).
This year, 12 clubs are participating in the tournament. They are:

3. Jatrabari Krira Chakra
4. Basabo Tarun Sangha
5. Dhaka Wonderers Club
6. Mahakhali Ekadosh
7. Dhaka United SC
8. Friends Social Welfare Organization
9. Shadhinata Krira Sangha
10. Bangladesh Boys Club
11. PWD SC
12. Shadharan Bima Krira Sangstha
Dhaka Mahanagori Senior Division Football League 2017 will officially begin on Friday with the opening match between Wari Club and Shadharan Bima Krira Sangstha at 3:45 pm.
Player transfer for the tournament took place from 28.02.2017 to 09.03.2017.
For the 12 participating clubs, 299 players received clearance papers to play in the tournament.
With the tournament set to start on 31.03.2017, a press conference was held at 12:15 pm on Thursday (30.03.2017) at the conference room (2nd floor) of the Dhaka Mahanagari Football League Committee in Bangabandhu National Stadium, Dhaka.
An opening ceremony will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday (31.03.2017) at Bir Shrestha Shaheed Shipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium, Kamalapur Dhaka before the opening match.
Tarafdar Mohammad Ruhul Amin, Deputy Managing Director of sponsor Saif Power Tec Ltd. will officially inaugurate the tournament.
Kamalapur's Bir Shrestha Shaheed Shipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium will be used as the venue throughout tournament.
Starting on 31.03.2017, the tournament will continue till 19.05.2017 according to the fixture.
The whole tournament will be played on a single league basis.
The top two teams at the end of the league will be promoted to Bangladesh Championship League for next season while the bottom team will be relegated to the second division.
There is no prize money of the tournament; champions and runners-up will only be given trophies.
However, all the 12 participating teams will receive participation money.
The league was last arranged in 2014 which was the 33rd edition of the tournament.
In that edition, Fakirerpool Young Mens Club finished as champions while T&T Club Motijheel finished as runners-up.
Despite starting in 1973, the league did not take place in 1990, 1992, 1998, 2005-06, 2008 and 2011 due to some unavoidable circumstances.
