Bengaluru, April 18: JSW Bengaluru strengthened their position at the top of Group E in the 2017 AFC Cup on Tuesday evening with a comfortable 2-0 win over Abahani Limited Dhaka.
The Indian outfit proved too strong for the sky blues as the hosts took all three points from them in the Group E clash in Sree Kanteerava Stadium, Bengaluru.
Nishu Kumar capped a dominant first-half display for the hosts when he scored the opening goal five minutes before the break and substitute Marijan Jugovic finally ensured the points were safe when he netted via the underside of the crossbar seven minutes from time.
The win maintains Bengaluru’s perfect start to the campaign, taking them on to nine points from their first three games while Abahani have yet to claim a point and are slipping out of the contention for a place in the next phase of the competition.
