Dhaka, May 14: Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd started their Walton Federation Cup 2017 with
a comfortable 3-0 victory over Farashganj Sporting Club at the Bangabandhu
National Stadium on Sunday.
Following some quick counter attacks, Sheikh Jamal took the lead in the 10th
minute through a penalty. Sheikh Jamal’s Guinean forward Mamadou Bah had
stormed past his marker from the left edge of the box, and Farashganj defender
Malik Mandy decided to retaliate with a fatal tackle. The referee whistled for
a penalty and Mamadou Bah made sure his team had the lead with 1-0.
Forward Nurul Absar doubled the lead in the 57th minute as his second shot at
the post was right on target. Substitute midfielder Sohel Mia had delivered
skillfully to Absar in the middle of the box, and the forward’s fast reflexes
proved to be handy as he managed to score with his second touch quickly after
the ball bounced back to him from the side post, leading his team 2-0.
With an amazing show of footballing skill, Sheikh Jamal managed to lead 3-0 in
the last minute of the match as Sohel Mia looped the ball in 20 yards out.
