Dhaka, June 5: Reigning and eight time champions Dhaka Abahani lock horns with maiden title aspirant Chittagong Abahani in the all Abahani final of the Walton Federation Cup at the Bangabandhu National Stadium at 7:30 pm on Tuesday.
A pre-match conference was held in this regard on Monday (July 5) at 1pm at the conference room of BFF house in Motijheel, Dhaka.
Head coaches and Captains of the two finalists- Chittagong Abahani Ltd and Abahani Ltd. Dhaka were present there.
Drago Mamic, the Croatian coach of Dhaka Abahani was critical of playing three matches in span of six days.
"I would say that my team is not in an ideal condition to play a final, after completing the AFC Cup Fixture on May 31, we played the semifinal and did not believe to win that against Sheikh Jamal, however we are on the final but we have not recovered fully" said the Croatian.
Talking about his opponents Mamic said he had not seen Chittagong Abahani playing. “They are a strong team, they have some quality players, hey will give the maximum to win the title," Mamic added.
Mamic’s counterpart Saiful Bari Titu however showered respect to his opponents. “Dhaka Abahani is one of best teams of the country, they have completed their AFC Cup campaign playing against a number of strong clubs, they are in a good form, they have a balanced side” said Titu.
Titu said his team is yet to produce the best though they are in the final. “We have failed to dictate the tempo in the previous matches, I am concerned with it, however I am talking with the players about the all-out teamwork, we want to win the title by playing a good brand of football. We will miss goalkeeper Ashraful Islam Rana who is unfit” opined Titu.
