Korea scored 3 against Bangladesh: Korea v Bangaldesh – Bangladesh restricted Korea to just a single goal at half-time of their round 2 group B match at the Al-Gharrafa Stadium. When Chun Soo Lee opened the scoring after just three minutes with a crisp drive into left corner, a rout looked likely. But thanks to some determined defending, Bangladesh managed to contain the Koreans, who are expected to contend strongly for a medal at Doha 2006. A fightback was always unlikely though, Bangladesh failing to record a single shot on goal in the first 45 minutes, compared to Korea’s 10. The onslaught continued in the second half with the Koreans recording a further 19 attempts on goal. Half-time substitute Park Chu Young converted two of the Koreans chances. He scored in the 58th minute, when he cleverly worked himself an opening in the Bangladeshi penalty box and slashed the ball home. He doubled his tally fifteen minutes later, with a well taken half-volley from just inside the box. Bangladesh failed to produce a single shot throughout the 90 minutes and must be considered rank outsiders to progress. After the game Park commented: "I watched the first half from the bench and I observed that we didn't play very well, but in the second half we did much better and I could play an important role in it. "Every player needs to concentrate more because we would like to achieve better results against stronger teams than Bangladesh." Message from AFC President Mohamed Bin Hammam Vision Bangladesh is one of the most important development projects undertaken by the Asian Football Confederation. The potential for football in Bangladesh is enormous. However, this potential will only be realized if all the stakeholders work together in a committed manner to implement a strategic development plan. AFC’s Vision Bangladesh programme provides this plan for Bangladeshi football. Clubs are one of the most important stakeholders in football. Football clubs are not just groups of players competing in a tournament. They are significant institutions in their community and have the task of developing the next generation of elite players. Clubs must be capable of meeting these important responsibilities. Thus, club development is a key objective of Vision Bangladesh. A key principle of Vision Asia is that clubs must implement best practice in all areas of football administration including governance, management, finance, marketing, media, sporting development, match organization, fan clubs and community. The Vision Bangladesh Club Development course will set out the key principles, ensuring that the elite clubs in Bangladesh are aware of what needs to be done to set them on course of consistent development. One of the objectives of the Club Development Cour`se is to identify criteria that could provide the basis for a club licensing system in Bangladesh. I urge all clubs to contribute positively to this process. In the recent report from the FIFA Task Force “For the Good of the Game” the following goals were laid down for club licensing systems: • Safeguarding the credibility and integrity of club competitions • Improving the level of professionalism with the football family • Promoting positive sporting values in accordance with the principles of fair play, as well as safe and secure match environments. These are worthy goals for which all stakeholders of Bangladeshi football must strive to achieve. I urge the clubs in Bangladesh to work with BFF and AFC Vision Asia to design and implement a process that will realize these goals for the benefit of football in Bangladesh. I wish you a very successful and productive workshop. The Future is Asia! The Pro League is going to be launched for the first time in order to establish an elite football in Bangladesh . Well-organized clubs will participate there with the highest standard of players, coaches, referees, administrators, event management & facilities. The Pro league will be the main sporting event in Bangladesh . It will have strong support from the community, be appropriately developed commercially and receive wide spread media coverage. It will be at the apex of football in Bangladesh and thereby provide the inspiration for grassroots and youth development. The tentative commencement of the pro league is September, 2006. On 25th may, 2006 there will be a meeting with all the 12 clubs’ representatives. There all the necessary things regarding 29th may 2006 workshop (will be conducted by AFC Delegates) will be communicated to them. |
