Dhaka, Jan 08: Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club continued their winning spree beating Port City rival Chittagong Mohammedan Sporting club 2-1 in the GrameenPhone Bangladesh League at BSSM Mostafa Kamal Stadium, Kamalapur on Saturday.With the win the traditional black and white outfit took a solo lead in the point table with nine points.

Striker Md. Anwar Hossain opened the account for Dhaka Mohammedan in the 11th minutes from a cross of Nigerian striker Emeka Christian as Chittagong Mohammedan two defenders and goal keeper were struggling to clear the ball. 

Second goal came for the winners in the 71th minute from Rony’s touch when defender Amani’s hard shot was too strong to hold for Ctg MSC custodian Biplob. The defender took again the shot on rebound ball and Roney slammed it in the far post.. 

Chittagong MSC reduced the margin in the 83 minutes as Liberian striker Jerry Odesco scored the lonely goal from a cross of Farhad that beat the defenders of Dhaka Mohammedan in the air.

The title aspirants Mohammedans, who had to struggle to win their league opener against Chittagong Abahani Limited, also faced a stiff hurdle to earn the slim margin win against Farashganj while Chittagong Mohammedan tested their second consecutive defeat. In the second match the port city club got 4-0 defeat by defending title holder Dhaka Abahani Ltd. after 2-1 victory over hosts Feni Soccer Club in their opening match.

Two matches of GrameenPhone Bangladesh League to be held on Sunday. Sheikh Russell KC will face Rahamatganj MFS at BSSM Mostafa Kamal Stadium at 4 pm while host Soccer Club, Feni will meet Brothers Union at Feni Stadium at 2.30 pm.
