Dhaka Jan 09: Sheikh Russell KC joined Dhaka Mohammedan at the top of the GrameenPhone Bangladesh League point table beating Rahamatganj MFS by a solitary goal at the BSSM Mostafa Kamal Stadium in city's Kamalapur Sunday.
In the second match of the day, host Soccer Club Feni held Brothers Union as a goalless draw in the Feni stadium.
Moroccan recruit ChahRout Youssef scored the all-important goal for the winners in the 6th minute placing the ball in the far post Rahmatganj goalie Himel off a left flank cross of compatriot midfielder Moro Mohammad.
In the second half Rahmatganj, the old Dhaka outfit initiated a number of attacks and tried heart and soul to score the equlaiser but the Sheikh Russell custodian Mamun Khan was too strong to break.
Mamun Khan saved a right footed shot of Rahamatganj’s Ugandan striker cum captain Idris Kasirye from a through of Nigerian striker Onokoro Felix in the 55th minutes in the match.
In the last minutes of the match Mamun destroyed another attack of Rahmatganj by saving a good head of Striker Idris.
With this match Sheikh Russell earned full nine point from three matches while Rahamatganj got four points from the same matches. Whereas Brothers Union and Soccer Club Feni both teams obtained 2 points each from three matches also.
Two matches will be held on Monday in the different venues. Arambag KS will meet with Muktijoddha KC at BSSM Mostafa Kamal Stadium at 4 pm while Chittagong Abahani Ltd. will face Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd. at Cox’s Bazar Stadium at 2:45 pm.
