Dhaka Jan 12: A Latif Charitable School lifted the title of the Ashiyan City Dhaka Metropolis School Football Tournament- 2010 today.
A Latif Charitable School defeated Dhaka Residential Model School 3-1 in the tiebreaker at the BSSM Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the final match. The stipulated one hour match ended in a goalless draw.
The champion team dominated the whole match and created many chances but all their efforts went in vain due to lack of good finishers.
Raisul Islam Rimu, player of Dhaka Residential Model School, was adjudged the `player of the tournament’ and Masum, striker of A Latif Charitable School, became the `highest scorer of the tournament’. He scored 15 goals.
Both the booters received fifty thousand taka prize money from ATN Bangla. BAF Shaheen College won fair-Play trophy and Abahani Ltd. ground adjudged best venue.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, MP, distributed trophies among the winners as chief guest. President of Bangladesh Football Federation Kazi Salahuddin and Chairman of National School Football Committee Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman were also present.
The school tournament started 29 December, 2010 with a total of 41 teams.
