Dhaka Jan 30: Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi club strengthened their position with a second consecutive win in the Grameenphone Bangladesh League after beating Soccer Club Feni 1-0 at the BSSM Mostafa Kamal Stadium today.
With the day’s result, Sheikh Jamal moved to 11 points with three wins and two draws loss while Soccer Club remained at three points, both having played six matches.
The star-studded from Dhanmondi got the lead early in the first half when midfielder Mamun’s pushed home from a left flank cross of Shakil in the 9th minute.
After getting the first goal, Pakeer Ali’s men became defensive instead of attacking. As a result, they had to remain satisfied with a slim victory.
The visitors, on the other hand, showed more attacking spirit and created many chances but unfortunately their strikers did not make most of them.
Soccer clubs best chance came in the 30th minute when striker Bulbul lost his balance after dodging rival goalie Aminul.
Sheikh Jamal also got chances but striker Sabuj spoiled the best opportunity when he shot wide of from Enamul pass just after the hour match.
The winning team coach Pakeer Ali was satisfied as his team got second win under his leadership after taking charge. “It is good to win either you played good or bad no matter. They win. So, I am satisfied. Our striking zone is still struggling. We have to more work in this position. That was not a big match. So, players looked relax in the field today. Hope, next match they will play more better.” said Lankan’s coach.
Despite of 1-0 defeat, Soccer Club coach Yusuf was happy with his boys’ performance. “It is hard to win against the big team like Sheikh Jamal. Boys played very well today. They are gradually improving. So, I am completely happy with my boys’ performance,” said the Feni's club coach.
