Dhaka, Feb 01: The Grameenphone Bangladesh League 2010 will be halted from 14th February to 3rd March 2011. The league will resume on 4th March, 2011. The decisions have been taken by BFF Professional League Committee and National Team Management Committee at BFF House today after having a meeting with the twelve professional clubs of the Grameenphone Bangladesh League.
The decision was taken due to the U-23 national team’s preparation for the London Olympic 2012 Qualifiers against Kuwait.
Bangladesh will take on Kuwait in the away match on February 23 in Kuwait. The 2nd leg is scheduled for March 9 in Dhaka but could be played on February in the Kuwait if FIFA approved the proposed date and venue.
Meanwhile, the 12 professional clubs appealed to BFF for revising the date of the 2nd registration window of the Grameenphone Bangladesh League that was scheduled from 5th March 2011. They have appealed to start the second registration window after the end of 1st leg according to the revised schedule.
From next year, the league will not be interrupted for any programme of the national team- training, camp or international involvement, the clubs agreed.
On 6th February 2011, at 4 pm, Professional League Committee, National Team Management Committee and the twelve professional clubs will have another meeting to discuss about national team's engagement in the AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers and other related matters.
