Dhaka, Feb 4: Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club returned in the winning ways after three consecutive defeats in the Grameenphone Bangladesh League as they smashed down Arambagh Krira Sangha 4-1 at the BSSM Mostafa Kamal Stadium today.
Foreign recruit Emeka Cristiano, Emeka Lucky, Rwandan Amani stuck one goal each in the first half and Anowar scored last goal in the second half for the traditional black and white while Liberian Benjamin Cooper pulled one goal back for the team from Old Dhaka.
With this win, Dhaka Mohammedan moved to third position of the point table with 12 points while Arambagh stick to their previous six from seven outings to stay at the bottom third place in the 12-team table.
Mohammedan, however, the title contenders, took early charge as their Nigerian striker Emeka scored his first goal in the league on 13th minute when he headed home on Rony Islam’s right side cross from the edge of box.
But Arambagh returned very early in the match as their Liberian striker Cooper leveled the score just two minute later from a pass of Guinean Bangura Ismail.
Nigerian defender Emeka Lucky put the black and white lead in the 19th minute of the match when his header found home on a free-kick of captain Sharif from left side of the box.
Rwandan midfielder Amani scored the third goal for Mohammedan as his bullet shot beat the rival goalie Bishnu on a defence splitting pass of Emaka Cristiano in the 30th minute of the match.
After first half, the old Dhaka outfit tried to reduce the margin and created some fine chances but they did not make due to lack of good finisher.
Arambagh Guinean striker Bangura Ismael missed an easy opportunity two minutes before the first half as he failed to find MSC net from a one-on-one position with goalkeeper Mohammed Al Hassan.
Mohammedan’s last goal came in the injury time of the match when substitute Anowar tapped in from Shariful Islam cutback.
After the needed win, Mohammedan coach Shafiqul Islam Manik was delighted and felt relief as his team came out from the junk of defeat. "Yes, I felt very relief after this win. They availed their opportunities at the first chance which was necessary. You look, boys didn’t demoralize after three consecutive defeat. I told them to forget the past, always think, you are starting from new. Good luck has come back again.” said former national football coach.
