Dhaka, Feb 12: Ten-man Farashganj held Brothers Union Club 1-1 in an eighth round match of the Grameenphone Bangladesh League at the BSSM Mostafa Kamal Stadium today.
After four draws, the Gopibagh outfit remained at seventh place in the table with 10 points while Farashganj, who were reduced to ten men in the 58th minute after Saikat’s send-off due to two bookable offences, followed with seven points.
Brothers, though, dominated the show and kept pressure on the old-Dhaka side but despite enjoying superior ball possession, they failed break the deadlock against a more defensive Farashganj for long.
However, it were Farashganj who went ahead against run of play when Nigerian striker Kalu Johnson scored in the 42nd minute when he headed home on a cross by Zakir from the right flank.
The Oranges returned in the match early in the second half when Cameroon striker Bitcha Richards’ shot kissed the net from a through pass of Ghanaian forward Enock Bentil.
Bentil and Brazilian playmaker Everton, in particular, sent a series of teasing crosses inside the Farashganj area but all their efforts went down the drains as Richards failed to utilize them.
Richards came close in the 51st minute but his effort was saved by lone keeper Tariq, who foiled two more attempts later, denying Didar and Richards from dangerous positions.
