Dhaka Feb 13: Rahamatganj MFS continued their winning run in the Grameenphone Bangladesh League as they edged pass Chittagong Mohammedan Sporting Club 2-1 at the BSSM Mostafa Kamal Stadium today.
After the eighth round, Rahamatganj moved two steps up from fifth to third of the League table with 16 points below Muktijoddha 19 points and Abahani 17 while Chittagong Mohammedan went two steps down from seventh to ninth with 7 points.
Ugandan striker Idris Kasirye struck double for Rahmatganj in the first half while Liberian striker Clatus Blamo reduced the margin for Chittagong Mohammedan in the second half.
Both team created several chances but all their efforts went into vain due to lack of good finishers.
Captain Idris Kasirye, however, broke the deadlock for Old Dhaka in the 32nd minute when his right footed shot reached the net after dodging rival goalkeeper Liberian James Paul from a pass of Nigerian midfielder Onewkore Felix.
Nine minutes later, Idris Kasirye netted his fifth goal in the league while his right footed shot defeat rival custodian again on a Jamal Hossain’s pass.
Liberian striker Clatus Blamo shrank the margin in the 75th minute with lone effort for Black and white when his long range right footed shot about 36 yards distance beat rival goalie Iran Sheikh
The ninth round match of Grameenphone Bangladesh League will be resumed from 27th February, 2011.
