Dhaka Feb 28: Sheikh Russel Club and Arambagh Krira Shangha both confirmed three points from their respective match in the Grameenphone Bangladesh League in Dhaka and Cox’s Bazar today.
After the ninth round, Sheikh Russel moved to the third place of the league table with 18 points while Arambagh reached eighth position with 9 points.
Wahed’s strike helped Sheikh Russel to register 1-0 win over Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club at the BSSM Mostafa Kamal Stadium while foreign recruit Bangoura Ismail and Subair Muhammed lift Arambagh to attain 2-1 victory over Chittagong Abahani Limited at the Cox’s Bazar Stadium.
Wahed scored the all important goal for Sheikh Russel from a counter attack in the 68th minute of the match when his cool headed placing shot defeated the rival goalie Titumir on a cutback of Ghanaian midfielder Moro Mohammed.
Both teams created several opportunities in the match but all their efforts went in vain due to lack of good finishers.
Away at the Cox's Stadium, Nigerian midfielder Subair Muhammed put Arambagh lead in the 12th minute as he scored first goal in the league from a solo effort.
Guinean striker Bangura Ismail doubled the lead in the 19th minute for the winning team taking the ball from midfield and dodging rival defenders and goalie.
Frontman Nur Hossain Ripon reduced the margin for the port city in the 69th minute of the match.
