Dhaka, Mar 17: Bangladesh and India are gearing up for the race which can earn them a place in the football tournament of the 2012 London Olympics with the round-1 in group B of the Olympic qualifiers getting underway tomorrow.
Bangladesh’s coach Golam Rabbani Choton hopes Bangladeshi will do better than previous tournaments. “You know it is a big tournament for us. We are happy to participate like this tournament. Our girls will get more knowledge and will be experienced from here. Girls are still learning and gradually improving,” told the national coach bffonline.com today.
After SAFF women championship, Bangladesh will face strong India who already proves their power. “You know India is a very strong team but we will try to fight with them. We will also try to reduced our mistake what we did last meet,” said Bangladesh coach.
India defeated Bangladesh 6-0 in the last SAFF Championship group match held in Cox's Bazar last December.
Bangladesh are appearing in this tournament with two weeks preparation and without any practice match due to lack of same level women football team. But Captain Trishna Chakma said, After SAFF Championship, we went back our club and practiced there. So, we have no problem about practice.”
On the other hand, India team coach Moahammed Shahid Jabbar has set their target to qualify for next round. “We will try to qualify and girls are ready to do that, “told Indian coach.
India came here after two months long preparation but left five players who helped them to lift SAFF title. Despite this coach is very hopeful for qualifying next round. “We know Bangladesh but we did not know about Uzbek except their ranking is higher than us. But if we play both matches well, we will win.”
Uzbekistan coach Han Vladislav also hopes to victory both matches and qualify for next round. We don’t know Bangladesh and Indian Team. We will see their game tomorrow. Hope we will win both matches. And we will qualify for London Olympic 2012.”
Before coming here, Uzbek played 4/5 practice match and they won all matches. In the football ranking, Uzbek is standing on 48 and India on 56.
The Match will start at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on 4:30 pm.
