Dhaka, Mar 18: Striker Bala Devi hat-trick helped India to register an easy victory as they defeated host Bangladesh 3-0 in the London Olympic 2012 qualifying round match at Bangabandhu Stadium today.
Bangladesh played well in the first half as they were able to keep India blank. But second half Indian attackers broke Bangladeshi defence and collected the goals.
Bala Devi broke the deadlock in the 52 minutes of the match for India by a solo effort. After dodging two rival defenders, she entered in the box and her shot defeated Bangladesh goalie Sabina Akter.
India doubled the lead in the 76th minute when Bala Devi headed home on a corner kick of Pinki Bompal from left side.
The Indian striker netted her third goal and completed hat-trick in the injury time of the match by a header on a corner kick of Suprova from the left side.
Coach Golam Rabbani Choton felt happy with Bangladesh performance; I am satisfied with the girls the way they played after two weeks practice. You know India is a very strong team and played a long time. We are new comer here. It is good for girls to gathering experience like this big tournament.”
But India coach shahid Jobbar ali was not satisfied with their team performance as they were blank until first half. “I am not satisfied with team’s performance. They did not play well in the first half. But hope, we will play well in the next match,“ told Indian coach.
