Dhaka, Mar 23: Five goals in the second half helped Uzbekistan to move in the second round of the Olympic Qualifying round match when they recorded a come from behind to a 5-1 victory over India in the payoff match at the BSSM Mostafa Kamal Stadium today.
After a 1-1 draw in the last match, the Uzbek found themselves in trouble when midfielder Bem Bem Devi put India ahead after 41 minutes at the BSSM Mostafa Kamal Stadium.
However, the all white pulled off five goals in quick succession through striker Lagutkina Alena, Karachik Lyudmila, Tourdiboeva Feruza and Sarikova Makhliyo to register their second win in the group stage.
Bem Bem Devi broke the deadlock in the 41st minute of the match from a set piece when their striker Bala Devi was brought down by Uzbek captain Ahmedova Oliya, Referee whistled for free kick. Bem Bem Devi’s angular shot defeated rival goalie Ahmedova Yulia.
Uzbek came back in the match after lemon break and leveled the match in the 60th minute when striker Lagutkina Elena struck on a wrong pass of India’s defenders.
Lagutkina put the lead double just three minute later from rebound after India’s goalie Sita Sharma failed to hold a ball shot by rookie striker Sarikova Makhliyo.
Striker Karashik Lyudmila scored the third goal for Uzbek in the 72nd minute as she received a ball from Turdiboeva Feruza and sent home by a right foot shot.
Three minute later, Turdiboeva Feruza made the match 4-1 for middle Asian when her long range free kick reached the post through the angle.
Sarikova Makhliyo sealed the victory for the white jursy in the 77th minute with right foot shot on a through pass from Chuna Kova Kristina.
Uzbek players and officials felt some relief with the win after a draw in the last match because this win will bring them to next round. “We are happy to win today. It was a very hard match. India is very good team and they scored first but we were more attacking in the second half at last we got a easy win,” said Uzbek coach Han Vladislav.
India coach Shahid Jobbar felt unhappy as his team did not hold the advantage of first half, “It was bad luck we did not hold our lead. Goalkeeper did many mistakes that are why we conceded 3 more goals. Also our left back did not play well."
