Dhaka, Apr 10: Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club made a good start in the Independence Cup Football Tournament when they defeated Farashganj Sporting Club 4-2 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium today.
Cameroon striker Emmanual Ayuk stuck double and Sujon, Shakil scored one goal each for Sheikh Jamal while Sohel Rana and Khokon Das scored for Farashganj.
Sohel broke the deadlock in the 7th minute of the match when his cheap went over rival goalie Aminul Islam and landed far post.
Sheikh Jamal came back in the match in the 35th minute as their Nigerian striker Emmanual headed home on left winger Mishu’s cross.
Defender Sujon put Sheikh Jamal ahead from a penalty in the 38th minute of the match. The winning team midfielder Femi Orunnimi was brought down by rival defender Vashani. Sunjon made home from the spot kick.
Emmanual scored third goal for Dhanmondi outfit in the 45+ minutes as his shot deflected home when rival defender Shoikat wanted to clear the ball.
Midfielder Khokon Das reduced the margin for Farashganj in the early of second half from a spot kick when their striker was faced bad tackle by rival defender.
Left winger Shakil sealed the win for star-studded team 59th minute from a placing shot on Emmanual Ayuk’s cross.
