Dhaka, Apr 11: Bangladesh League leader Muktijoddha Krira Sangsad kept their winning run as they defeated Soccer Club Feni 2-1 in their first match of the Independence Cup Football tournament at Bangabandhu National stadium today.
This is the fifth consecutive victory for Maruf’s warrior in this season as the title contender remained nine matches undefeated.
Sudanese striker James Moga gave Muktijoddha lead in the 21st minute of the match from a set piece as striker Bukola brought down by rival defender Nurul Amin Shipon just outside of the box. The tallest striker made the free kick home defeating rival goalie Piarujjaman Piru.
Soccer Club leveled the score in the 56th minute of the match from a penalty. The Feni outfit foreign recruit Abakporo was brought down by rival Yeamin Ahmed Munna and referee whistled for penalty. Ugandan striker Dominic Kabuye made from the spot kick.
Six minute later Nigerian striker Bukola took Mukti ahead by right foot powerful shot a pass from James Moga. After conceding 2nd goal soccer club were more aggressive to level the match but the day was neither for soccer club nor for their striker Towhidul as his shot hit the right post 64 minutes (first try), header hit the post in the 75th minute (2nd try) and shot saved by custodian Biplob (3rd try).
Moga also missed an easy chance in the 65th minute from a counter attack as his shot went outside the post on a Bukola’s cross in spite of getting rival goalie Piru alone.
