Dhaka, Apr 13: Feni soccer kept their hope alive for knockout round in the Independence Cup Football Tournament 2011 as they held Arambagh krira Sangha 1-1 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium today.
Soccer club, who still standing relegation area in the point table of the Bangladesh professional league, gave a hard fight in the first match though but lost to Muktijoddha 2-1 in their last match.
Sohel Rana scored for Feni club while Benjamin Cooper leveled the match for Arambagh
Midfielder Sohel Rana broke the deadlock for Soccer club in the 20th minute of the match with solo effort. He intercepted a ball from rival defender and defeated rival goalie Piarujjaman Piru by left footed angular shot from the line of the box.
Arambagh came in the match in the 42nd minute when their Liberian striker Benjamin Kooper’s push leveled the score on a pass of Khan Sharif from the right.
Both teams missed many chances due to lack of good finishers in the each half.
In the Bangladesh league, both teams did a goalless draw in the first leg match.
