Dhaka, Apr 15: Enamul Haque’s double strikes in the second half helped Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club to confirm their second round berth as A group champion when they defeated Rahmatganj MFS 4-1 in their second match of the Independence Cup.
On the basis of goal difference Farashganj also moved to the second round this group as runners-up as they drew with Rahmatganj 2-2 and lost to Sheikh Jamal 4-2.
Sheikh Jamal newly recruit Cameroon striker Emmanual Ayuk opened the net for Sheikh Jamal early in the match by a header on a corner of his compatriot Femi Orunimi.
The Cameroonian again came in light helping Shakil to make the lead double in the 22nd minute of the match When the Jamal left winger Shakil’s left foot angular shot beat rival goalie Hemel from an Ayuk pass.
National striker Enamul, who was sidelined in the first match, scored the third goal for Sheikh Jamal in 46th minute in his first appearance in this tournament replacing Cameroonian Loga Bouga. Enamul’s powerful shot hit the back net on a pass of Ayuk which was provided by Shakil from left flank.
Enamul sealed the victory and scored his second goal in the match when he tapped in a cross of left winger Shakil in the 74 minute of the match.
Uche Felix reduced the margin for Rahmatganj in the 53th minute from a pass of Idris Kasyre.
In the Bangladesh league first leg match, Sheikh Jamal also defeated Rahamatganj 2-1.
