Dhaka, Apr 27: Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club made a good start in the second leg of the Grameenphone Bangladesh League when they stunned down three-time title owner Dhaka Abahani Limited 3-1 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium today.
Cameroon striker Stephan Loga Bouga, Ariful and Enamul scored for new powerhouse while Ghanaian striker Twum Frank scored for the sky-blues.
After the triumph, the Dhanmondi outfit reached on second position of the point table with 27th in 12th round having eight wins while Abahani are standing one point behind them played same number of matches.
Sheikh Jamal,s newly recruited striker Loga Bouga put his team ahead in the 8th minute from a solo effort. The Cameroonian rushed on a ball and dodged Abahani’s goalkeeper Shahidul Alam Sohel as his shot hit the back net.
Midfielder Ariful Islam made the lead double in the 30th minute when he headed home on a corner of Nigerian striker Femi Orunnimi.
Abahani reduced the margin in the 64th minute when their highest scorer Ghanaian Twum Frank scored from a rebound after his compatriot Awudu Ibrahim’s shot hit the post.
Enamul sealed the victory for Jamal when his shot went over the rival custodian and landed a far post.
