Dhaka, May 5: It will be a “Super Friday” as table toppers Muktojoddha lock horns with title contenders Sheikh Jamal Dhannmondi Club in a crucial tie of the Grameenphone Bangladesh League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium at 5:00 pm tomorrow.
Muktijoddha is on the top of the table with 31 points while Sheikh Jamal has 27 points from the same 12 matches.
History is favouring Sheikh Jamal as they have won both of the matches played between the two teams till date. In the Federation Cup’s semi-final Sheikh Jamal 1-0 with Towhidul Alam Sabuj scoring the winner. Sabuj also scored in their second meet in the first phase of the Bangladesh League where Sheikh Jamal prevailed 2-0.
Muktiojoddha will look upon the fine form of their Sudanese goal scorer James Saeed Moga and his Nigerian teammate Alamu Bukola Olalekan. However the big boost for Muktijoddha is, Mithun Chowdhury, the national forward is all set to return to the field after missing three matches due to chicken pox.
Sheikh Jamal had boosted their arsenal with the Cameroonian duo of Emmanuel Ayuk and Stefan Loga Bouga in the second transfer window. Nigerian Femi Orunimmi adds the pace in their attack and they have a formidable midfield with Mamunul Islam as the playmaker.
“We are ready for the challenge as Sheikh Jamal is in form and we are eager to take the revenge” said Maruful Huq, the Muktijoddha coach.
On the other hand Pakir Ali, the Sri Lankan coach of Sheikh Jamal is also ready to face the fire with fire. “We are not willing to lose any points anymore and we will take the field to win” said Pakir.
