Dhaka, May 9: Table toppers Muktijoddha registered a facile 3-0 victory over Arambagh in the Grameenphone Bangladesh League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday.
Mithun Chowdhury, Boris Kochikin and James Saeed Moga scored one goal each for the red outfit. Mithun and Moga took their tally to 13 goals each as the highest scorers of the lone professional league of Bangladesh.
Mithun Chowdhury put Muktjoddha ahead in the 14th minute as the wily forward dived forward and headed a Zahed Parvez cross past Arambagh custodian Bishnu in the far post.
Arambagh had no clue about what went wrong in the first five minutes of the second half as Russian Boris Kochikin and Sudanese James Saeed Moga netted two goals in the 47th and 50th minutes.
Boris ran in with a James Moga square pass past the Arambagh defence and placed the ball in the far post from the middle of the box to score his first goal of the league. Muktijoddha extended their lead to 3-0 when Moga took the control of a Boris Kochikin cross in the middle of the box and slammed a left footer in the roof of the net.
Muktijoddha could have gone up 4-0 in the 54th minute as defender Paul Emmanuelle Dammi headed a Mithun corner but saw it cleared from the goal line by Arambagh defender Monu.
Muktijoddha consolidated their place at the top of the table with 35 points from 14 matches. Arambagh remained at the 7th position with 16 points completing their 14th round.
