Dhaka, May 11: Sheikh Jamals prowess proved too much for the struggling Chittagong Abahani as the star studded team registered a facile 6-0 victory over the port city outfit at the Bangabandhu national Stadium on Wednesday.
Substitute forward Jahid Hasan Emily and Cameroonian marksman Sergio Fils Chico scored braces respectively while Ariful and Shujon the two defenders added the other two. The winners led the first half 2-0.
Ariful put Sheikh Jamal ahead in the 7th minute heading a Femo Orunimmi cross from the right flank, and Shujon converted a penalty in the 21st minute after Chittagong Abahani defender Zamir brought Nigerian winger Femi Orunimmi down in the box.
Sheikh Jamal came back stronger after the change of ends and Emily headed the first of his two off a Femi cross in the 61st minute. Three minutes later Emily added the second and the fourth for his team by placing the ball into the far post off a Abdul Baten Mojumder Komol, the substitute midfielder cut back.
Sergio Chico started his demolition act in the 76th minute scoring the fifth goal of Jamal with a cleverly taken placing shot off a Komol cross and completed the rout in the 79th minute after Emily fed him with a nice cross in the middle of the box and the tall Cameroonian blasted the ball home with precision.
Sheikh Jamal remained in the third position of the table with 31 points after 14 matches while Chittagong Abahani remained at the bottom with 4 points playing the same 14 matches.
