The FIFA consultant was speaking at the press conference of National Football Championship organized by Bangladesh Football Federation at the BFF House on Saturday.
“I have been in Bangladesh for a couple of times in the last few months and I feel that FIFA is impressed with the progress of the game here, the SAFF Women’s Championship held in Cox’s Bazar in December last was a successful event, the media coverage, audience and a number of good games presented a perfect picture that women’s football in Bangladesh can proceed” said the Swedish consultant.
Talking about the FIFA’s view towards Bangladesh Roland expressed a positive tone. “Fifa is impressed I strongly believe and that’s why I have returned here, to start the development process in important and BFF has started it, FIFA want to rev up the procedure with follow-up programs, and the opportunities are there to develop the game” said Roland.
The FIFA consultant admitted that there are challenges and obstacles to overcome. “Yes, there are obstacles and challenges to overcome, the financial situation is very tough, but it is growing and at the moment there are 30 million women footballers in the world and it is in the second position after the men’s football, and Asia is a very important part of the overall progaramme, it is growing and I think in period of next ten years Asia will have great success in the international arena, that’s why the FIFA thinks Bangladesh will also avail the opportunities that will come in the future “ hoped the FIFA consultant.
