Dhaka, May 15: Riding on the brace of their Cameroonian forward Emmanuelle Ayuk, Sheikh Jamal continued their winning spree beating Arambagh 2-0 to take the revenge of their first phase loss at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Sunday.
Sheikh Jamal’s attacking instincts were evident from the very beginning and Nigerian winger Femi Orunnimi and Ayuk created havoc in the opposition defence. However they had to wait for 41st minute to break the deadlock. Left back Waly Faisal’s good work in the left flank paved the way for unmarked Ayuk whose neatly right footed placing landed in the near post.
Sheikh Jamal continued the pressure after the change of ends and in the 61st minute forward Komol saw his header off a Femo Orunnimi corner bounce back to the game from the Arambagh crosspiece.
Arambagh never threatened their rival defence as their attackers lost the way in front of a tight Sheikh Jamal defence. Ayuk put his team on two goal cushion in the 77th minute when his side footed volley off a Nasir cross hit the back of the net.
The Cameroonian however was cursing his luck in the 86th minute when his upward tap off a Femi cross rocked the crosspiece and he was denied a hat-trick.
Arambagh stunned Sheikh Jamal 1-0 in the first phase.
Sheikh Jamal remained on the third position with 34 points from 15 matches while Arambagh remained on the eighth position with 16 points from the same 15 outings.
