Dhaka, May 24: Muktijoddha pulled out a thrilling last minute 2-2 draw against Dhaka Mohammedan to remain at the top of the point table of the Grameenphone Bangladesh League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday.
Sunday Chizoba put Mohammedan ahead in the 24th minute with a brilliant effort. Taking control of a looping ball of Rwandan midfielder Amani the Nigerian forward sped past defender Shaikat and rounded off onrushing custodian Biplob before placing the ball into the empty net (1-0).
James Saeed Moga the Sudanese hitman of Muktijoddha leveled the scoreline in the 30th minute. Argentine defender Luciano Thieller curved a neat cross from the right flank and the tall Sudanese’s powerful header gave Mohammedan goalie Mohammed al Hasan no time to react(1-1).
However Sunday Chizoba stunned Muktojoddha again in the 39th minute. His speed was evident again when he ran down the left flank and kept the control to go past Thieller and placed the ball coolly past Biplob (2-1).
In the injury time and the final whistle of the referee just a matter of time Muktijoddha midfielder Alamgir Kabir Rana destroyed the Mohammedan’s heart. He ran in with a through pass of Zahed Parvez and beat Al Hasan with a powerful grounder from the top of the six yard box (2-2).
Muktijoddha have 39 points from 17 matches while Mohammedan remained 7th position with 22 points from the same number of matches.
