Brothers Union’s attacking instincts paid off in the 14th minute when midfielder Tonmoy Hossain Toru broke the deadlock with a glancing header. Brazilian playmaker Everton’s curved cross from the right flank found Toru unmarked and he sent the ball home with his forehead (1-0)
Nkwocha Kingsley, the Nigerian forward of Brothers Union however let his team down on two occasions in the 39th and 43rd minute. Fed by attacking partner Topu the big Nigerian blasted over in the first occasion and rested the ball straight into the hands of Chittagong Abahani goalie Uzzal from the top of the six yards
Three minutes after the break Faisal Mahmood sealed the fate of the match with sole effort. Running down the right flank he rounded off his marker and put a low shot past Uzzal in the far post form the middle of the box (2-0).
Kingsley made it 3-0 in the 77th minute with a through pass from Toru and dribbled past two defenders and goalie Uzzal before placing the ball into the empty net(3-0).
Shankar Das scored the consolation for the port city outfit in the 83rd minute off a chip of Emeka Lucky Uti. His tricky placing between the two defenders gave Brothers goalie Raghu no chance (3-1).
Brothers Union moved to the fifth spot with 25 points from 17 matches while Chittagong Abahani remained at the bottom with five points from 18 matches.
