Dhaka, May 29: An injury time goal from Ghanaian defender Abbas Inusah kept Sheikh Russell’s hope alive in the title race of Grameenphone Bangladesh League as they edge past Soccer Club Feni 2-1 at the B S Salam Stadium Feni on Sunday.
The Feni outfit took the lead in the first half but national booter Yusuf’s equalizer and foreign recruit Abbas Inusah’s injury time goal saved Russell from losing points at the crucial stage of the league.
Nigerian striker Nche Francis put the home side ahead in the 19th minute. Md Yusuf leveled the scoreline in the 50th minute. When the match was looking to be a drawn one Abbas Inusah brought cheers among the Russel’s officials and supporters scoring winning goal in the injury time.
Sheikh Russel kept their third position with 38 points from the 18 matches while Feni Soccer remained in the 9th place with 14 points from same number of matches. Sheikh Jamal also have 38 points but they are in second place by goal difference.
