Dhaka, May 31: Title contenders Muktijoddha faces the hardest challenge against defending champions Dhaka Abahani in the crucial tie of the Grameenphone Bangladesh League at 4:15 pm at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Thursday.
So far, Muktijoddha, currently positioned second has 39 points from 17 matches while Dhaka Abahani has 35 from 16 encounters. The match is particularly significant for both as Muktijoddha will reach an advantageous position to clinch the title as they have to play Rahmatganj, Chittagong Mohammedan, Farashganj and Chittagong Abahani in their remaining fixtures. Dhaka Abahani also badly needs a win as they need the motivation and belief to face Brothers Union, Arambagh, Feni Soccer, Sheikh Russell and Dhaka Mohammedan to complete their campaign.
However Dhaka Abahani, positioned fourht will have to take the field without their two hardworking players-midfielder Pranotosh and defender Ashraf Mahmood Linkon. Both are out with three yellow cards. On the other hand Muktijoddha does not have any card or injury problems.
Maruful Haque, the coach of Muktijoddha has asked his players to put the best. “I have said that it is the match you have to win for your glory, it is hardest challenge for you and you will take a big step towards being the champions, Abahani will come all out and we are ready for that” said maruf.
Satyajit Das Rupu, the manager of Dhaka Abahani however wants to face the fire with fire. “Since returning from Cambodia, we have concentrated upon winning this match, the players know the significance of this match, we have to win it at any cost” said Rupu.
Availing the chances will be the key point and the team that applies them to the changing situations will be the winner.
