Dhaka, June 1: Forward Sohel Rana scored a brace to rescue Farashganj to a 2-2 draw with Rahmatganj in the Grameephone Bangladesh League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday.
Rahmatganj took the lead in the 28th minute when Idris Kasirye, the Ugandan forward slammed home from the middle of the box after Nigerian midfielder Felix paved the way with a nice chip from the left flank (1-0).
Seven minutes after the break Jamal Hossain doubled the lead of Rahmatganj. Fed by Idris Kasirye in the right flank of the box Jamal beat Farashganj goalie Shujon Chowdhury with an angular shot in the far post (2-0).
Farashganj however got the rhythm back and reduced the margin in the 77th minute. Sohel Rana broke free in the midfield and running past his marker sidefooted a low shot from the six yard box to beat Farashganj goalie Iran Sheikh in the near post (2-1).
In the 84th minute Sohel Rana restored the parity. Ugandan defender Michael Dumba brought Farashganj midfielder Jewel Rana down in the danger zone and Sohel converted the penalty to make it 2-2.
Rahmataganj took their tally 24 from 18 matches but remained seventh while Farashganj moved up to the ninth position with 15 points from the same number of matches.
