Dhaka, June 07: Muktijoddha Sangsad KC moved one step ahead to the title race in the Grameenphone Bangladesh League when they mauled Chittagong Abahani Limited 3-0 at the Cox’s Bazar Stadium on Tuesday.
Nigerian defender Dami Paul Emmanuel put Muktijoddha ahead in the 17th minute of the match. National striker Mithun Chowdhury doubled the lead in the 38th minute and Sudanese striker James Saeed Moga, leading scorer of the league, sealed the victory in the 53rd minute.
The port city sky-blues also went down in their first league match against Mukti 3-2.
After this match, bottom Chittagong Abahani Limited relegation have been confirmed before three matches yet to play as they were able to manage 5 points from 19 matches. The Port-City outfit will not play in the Grameenphone Bangladesh League from the next year. Mokti kept in second place in the league table with 43 points League leader Sk Jamal Dhanmondi Club are standing just one point ahead of them.
