Dhaka, June 27: Dhaka Abahani Limited beat Brothers Union 1-0 in the last match of Grameenphone Bangladesh League at the BSSM Mostafa Kamal Stadium on Monday.
Ghanaian striker Awudu Ibrahim scored the all important goals in the 82nd minute for the traditional sky-blues with a powerful right footed shot off a pass of his compatriot midfielder Yousif Aminu.
Earlier, Abahani got several chances to take lead but all their effort went in vain lack of good finishers.
Abahani’s best chance came in the 10th minutes when Shakhawat Hossain Rony’s header hit the woodwork from the 6-yard box on a Arup Kumar curved a cross from the right flank.
In the 67th minute Abahani got another chance to take lead but Twum Frank powerful strike from the edge of the penalty area saved brilliantly by rival goalie Sabuj Das Ragu.
After this triumph, Dhaka Abahani Abhani finished their league in fourth position with 44 points due to goal difference as Sk Russel remained third with 44 points. Brothers remained in the 5th place with 30 points by dint of goal difference with Dhaka Mohammedan.
