Dhaka, July 4: Bangladesh skipper Biplob hailed the team effort and was hopeful of providing another eye-catching performance against Lebanon after his team toppled Pakistan by 3-0 aggregate at Lahore on Sunday.
Bangladesh sustained the pressure against the spirited Pakistan who came out firing all cylinders and the goalless draw was enough to see Bangladesh through. Biplob said it was the strategy not to concede goal and go for the counter attack. “Our coach asked to pack the defence and look for the gaps to initiate the counter attacks, all the players of the team were focused upon implementing the strategy, I congratulate them all” said Biplob.
The Bangladesh skipper said it was a nerve wrecking experience as the players were surrounded by the security personnel’s even in the front of the their hotel rooms. “I praise the security measures but it also piled up some extra pressures upon us and we know that Pakistan will be taking a more physical approach, however we feel happy that we succeeded to implement our strategy” said the Bangladesh custodian.
The skipper felt that the team has earned the perfect platform to face a tougher test against Lebanon. “The confidence is high now, with nominal practice we have managed to remain unbeaten in two international matches in home and away, it gives you the required motivation to face a tough opponent like Lebanon, however I feel we will get better in the future” said Biplob.
Biplob also hailed coach Nikola Ilievski’s thinking approach. “He is very happy and was asking about Lebanon just a few minutes after the match, he is always thinking and that’s why kept Zahid in the tent in the first half, he said he will boost his attack in the later part of the match” said Biplob.
Bangladesh team is scheduled to arrive at Dhaka on Tuesday morning.
