Sk. Jamal thrash Brothers
Dhaka, July 8: Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club thrashed Brothers Union 6-1 in the opening match of the Grameenphone Super Cup at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.
Cameroonian forward Emmanul Ayuk put Sheikh Jamal ahead in the 30th minute with a solo effort. Taking control of a Mamunul Islam head in the left flank of the D-box Ayuk rounded off his marker and hit the roof of the net with a powerful shot (1-0).
Stefan Loga Bouga doubled the margin in the 50th minute after Shakil passed a Femi Orunimi cross to the Cameroonian who hit the far post net with the outside part of his boot (2-0).
Substitute midfielder Mishu sealed the fate of the match with a nice effort in the 64th minute. Beating the defence with a through pass of Femi Orunimi Mishu beat onrushing Brothers goalie Uttam with a low chip that crossed the line after hitting the side post (3-0).
Everton the Brazilian playmaker of Brothers reduced the margin in the 76th minute after Jamal defender Ariful brought Kingsley down and Everton converted the penalty (3-1).
However Emily put Jamal on the three goal lead again in the 83rd minute as he placed the ball below Uttam off a low cross from Komol (4-1).
Femi Orunimni struck the fifth in the 88th minute from the top of the box after running past the defence line and beating Uttam in the far post (5-1) and Loga Bouga scored the sixth in the injury time with a header off a Komol cross from the right flank (6-1).
Textile and Jute Minister Abdul Latif Siddiki inaugurated the tourney as the chief guest.
