BD to play Sri Lanka in SAFF U-16 opener
Dhaka, July 31: Bangladesh will start their SAFF U-16 campaign against Sri Lanka at Kathmandu on 2nd August, Tuesday.
The draw was held at the Nepali capital on Sunday and Bangladesh was drawn with Sri Lanka and hosts Nepal. Bangladesh will play their second and last group match on 4th August, Thursday. All the matches will be played at 3:45 (BST).
The other group comprised India, Maldives and Pakistan. Bhutan and Afghanistan are not playing in the tournament.
Bayazid Alam Zobayer Nipu, the technical director of Bangladesh Football Federation said inexperience will be the tough barrier to overcome. “I have talked with coach Nurul Huq Manik over telephone and he said the boys may suffer from the problem of altitude, the players have to adapt the conditions otherwise everything is alright, the temperature is not a problem there” said Nipu.
The top two of each group will play in the semifinals.
