Dhaka, September 12: Bangladesh Football Federation and Ministry of Education signed a MOU to organize the National School Tournament involving 4800 schools across the country at Ministry of Education conference room on Monday.
Education Ministry will assist BFF to organize this competition with its infrastructure and people. Apart from this the ministry will help the footballers providing scholarships and free education to the selected players. BFF will scrutinize the players.
The total budget of the meet is about Tk. 5 crore. The expenditure will be arranged by BFF who will take the help of sponsors.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said “ Today is a historical day of our nation because we are stepping forward to produce the future footballers, We all know that the country loves football and the passion for the game is high after the arrival of Lionel Messi . To keep up this passion on football, we are going to start National School football Championship 2011” said the education minister.
“Education Ministry organizes winter and Summer School Games every year. If we start school football in this level, enthusiasm of football in our children will increase” added the minister.
BFF president Kazi Salahuddin was savouring the moment. “I am so glad to be here. We need to produce good footballer through school. Schools are the most important platform to produce good footballers. We come here to build up our future footballers.
I am very happy with that Education Ministry and BFF are jointly going to organize this pioneer competition” said the BFF president.
Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman, the chairman of BFF’s school committee said, the competition is likely to start from the middle of October this year.
Secretary of Ministry of Education Dr. Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury said, We have come here with a dream to revive our football glory.
