Dhaka Metropolis School XI lifts JFA Cup Trophy
Dhaka, September 27: Dhaka Metropolis School XI emerged as the champions of the JFA Cup U-15 Football beating Tangail by 4-2 goals in the penalty shootout after the stipulated time of the final ended in a 1-1 tie at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday.
Jewel Rana of Tangail put his team ahead in the 3rd minute of the match with a floater from about 25 yards that saw Dhaka Metropolis School XI goalie Shahin out of position.
But Jahid, the Dhaka Metropolis School XI skipper equalized in the 32nd minute after Shumon’s curved cross from the right flank was headed back by Abid and Jahid’s fierce volley beat Tangail goalie Akash in the near post.
In the tie breaker Jahid, Antu,Shumon Parvez scored for the winners while Rahmat hit the post. For Tangail, Rubel and Rana converted but Bishwanath and Elias failed to score.
Abid of Dhaka Metropolis School XI was adjudged as the best player while Elias of Tangail with eight goals was the highest scorer.
Sports Secretary Mahbub Agmed, distributed the prizes as the chief guest. NSC Secretary Shafique Anwar, BFF Vice President Badal Roy, Kazi Nabil Ahmed, Executive Committee Members Anwarul Huq Helal, Satyajit Das Rupu, Fazlur Rahman Babul, Hasanuzzaman Khan Bablu, Sheikh Md. Aslam were also present on the occasion.
