Dhaka, October 9: Bangladesh
qualified for the final of the Beach Soccer of the 1st South Asian
Beach Games with a 5-1 victory over Nepal
at Hambantota, Sri Lanka on Sunday.
In the first session Bangladesh
trailed 1-0 with Prodip Thapa scoring for Nepal in the 7th minute.
The second session of 12 minutes was goalless but Bangladesh staged a brilliant comeback
in the 3rd and final session with Ariful Islam scoring a brace in
the 2nd and 9th minute while Md. Robin, Enamul Haque and
Abdul Baten Majumdar Komol netted in the 8th, 9th and 11th
minutes respectively.
In the first match of the day hosts Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh 12-4 to enter the final.
Forward Arsela scored five goals for the winners while Dinesh and Prodip added
two each. Komol netted twice for Bangladesh and Tawhidul Alam and
Enamul scored one each.
Nepal earlier
defeated Maldives
5-3.
Bangladesh
will meet hosts Sri Lanka
in the final at 5:00 pm on Monday.
