Dhaka, October 20: The AFC U-19 Championship Group A Qualifiers will kick off with match of Oman and Saudi Arabia at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday next.
Five teams-Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman, Maldives and host Bangladesh, are participating in the meet with the stars of the future. Nepal withdrew its name a few days back.
Two matches will be played every day as first match start 4:00 PM and second match will start 7:15.
The Asian countries youth teams are participating in this tournament splitting seven groups. Champion and runners teams of every group and two best third teams of qualifiers will take in the 16 teams final round championship” secretary of the tournament committee Shawkat Ali Khan Jahangir disclosed at a press brief at BFF house on Thursday.
BFF president Kazi Salahuddin was very optimistic about Bangladesh. “Our goal is to reach in final 16. But it is difficult to do that. Because, Saudi and Oman are very tough contenders. If our boys do well in the tournament it will help us to raise our level at home. Players are working hard and we hope for a good result.
Salahuddin expressed mixed impression about the preparation. “We have a lot of problems but under this circumstances, we have good preparation. I hope they will qualify. If they not, they will put a good fight.
Tournament committee chairman Monjur Hoossain Malu and BFF member Sirajul Islam Bachchu also were present on the occasion.
