Iraq maul hosts Bangladesh 6-0
Dhaka, October 27: Iraq made their AFC U-19 group A qualifiers in style beating hosts Bangladesh 6-0 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Thursday.
Iraq took the lead in the 10th minute off a penalty after Bangladesh forward Shojib pushed Iraqi defender Ali Adnan Kadhim in a goal mouth melee and Dhurgam Ismael hit the back of the net from the spot (1-0).
Iraq piled up the pressure and Ali Qasim Mshari doubled the lead in the 24th minute. Hayder Abdul Kareem, the hardworking midfielder snatched a ball from a Bangladeshi defender cut the ball back to Ali who turned and put a low shot past Bangladeshi goalie Rasel in the near post (2-0).
Nine minutes after the break Ali Adnan Kadhim displayed a superb footwork to outfoot two Bangladesh defenders and cannoned a left footer in the middle of the net (3-0).
Substitute midfielder Mohanad Abdul Raheem Karar scored the fourth goal in the 72nd minute after he took control of cross curved by Mohammed Jabbar from the right flank and blasted home from the middle of the box (4-0).
Substitute forward Ali Hussein Fendi scored the 5th and the 6th goals in the 84th and 86th minute displaying his superb scoring skills.
Bangladesh rarely troubled the Iraqi defence and Anik’s attempt in the 32nd minute from the right flank of the box was deflected off a defender for a corner.
