Saudi Arabia thump Bangladesh 4-0
Dhaka, October 29: Saudi Arabia continued their winning streak beating hosts Bangladesh 4-0 in the group A of the AFC U-19 qualifiers at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday.
With the win Saudi Arabia took their tally to six points but remained in the second position behind Iraq due to inferior goal average. Simultaneously the defeat put Bangladesh almost out of the tourney.
Al Muwallad put Saudi Arabia ahead with a cracking shot from the top of the box in the 12th minute (1-0).
The lead was doubled in the 32nd minute as Nawaf danced down the right flank and curved a cross that was chipped back by midfielder Omar in the path of Saleh who had little difficulty to head the ball home (2-0).
Bangladesh midfielder Sohel squandered the lone chance in the 25th minute when he shot halfheartedly off a square pass of Shahed direct to Saudi goalie Al Harbi from the middle of the box.
Al Muwallad, who created havoc with his speed and skills netted his second in the added time of the first half beating Bangladesh goalie Rasel with another cracker after running in with a Nawaf through pass (3-0).
Bangladesh was reduced to ten men when substitute midfielder Rasel was sent off due to the second yellow card in the 50th minute.
Substitute forward Jaber tapped the ball in the 80th minute after Al Zubaidi cut the ball back to him in the 80th minute (4-0).
Saudi Arabia earlier beat Oman 4-0 while Bangladesh beat Oman 3-0 and lost to Iraq 6-0.
