Saudi Arabia destroy Maldives 11-0
Dhaka, October 31: Saudi Arabia demolished Maldives 11-0 to ensure a final round place from the group A of the AFC U-19 qualifiers at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday.
With three consecutive wins Saudi Arabia assured them a slot in the final round.
Forward Saleh Al Shehri scored the first hat-trick of the group while al Zubaidi, Alolayan and forward Jaber scored two goals each in the demolition act.
Defender Al Zubaidi put the Saudis ahead in the very 3rd minute after skipper Bassas rolled a freekick from the top of the box and Al Zubaidi hit the far post with a powerful grounder from the top of the box(1-0).
Five minutes later Jaber doubled the margin with an opportunistic strike. Maldives goalie Abdullah Fayaz blocked a powerful shot of Al Muwallad and unmarked Jaber tapped the ball home (2-0).
Jaber took the lead to 3-0 in the 21st minute after Fayaz let the ball of from his gloves off Saleh al Shehri shot and Jaber put the ball in (3-0).
Al Zubaidi netted his second in the 29th minute in the same way, hitting the back of the net after Bassas rolled the ball to him off a free kick (4-0).
Saleh at last found the net scoring his first in the 40th minute tapping a the ball into the near post after Asiri’s shot deflected off the sidepost and fell in front of him.
The second half saw Saudi Arabia scored five goals in a span of 11 minutes. Saleh al Shehri scored in the 56th and 65th minute to complete the hat-trick of the group. al Muwallad scored the seventh in the 60th minute, midfielder Alolayan scored in the 57th and 66th minute, Asiri made it 11-0 in the 69th minute.
Maldives completed its campaign losing all the four matches and conceding 27 goals while Saudi Arabia waits to play the last match of the group against Iraq on Wednesday.
