Iraq’s third successive victory put them at the top of the table with nine points and they will fight for the group championship against Saudi Arabia in the last match of the group on Wednesday. Oman who beat Maldives but lost to Saudi Arabia earlier play Bangladesh in the last match same day.
Midfielder Mahdi Kamil Shiltagh put Iraq ahead in the 12th minute as Jawad Kadhim Hantoosh curved a cross to Mohanad Abdulraheem Karrar who controlled the ball with his chest and Mahdi fired a volley into the far post net (1-0).
Ali Qasim Mshari doubled the lead four minutes later beating onrushing Oman goalie Juma Al Maawali with a net placing shot (2-0).
Jawad Kadhim Hantoosh made it 3-0 in the 21st minute with an spectacular effort. Taking a through pass of Abdulraheem Karrar the speedy midfielder placed the ball between the goalie and two defenders into the far post from the right edge of the box(3-0).
Two minutes after the change of ends Oman reduced the margin through forward Saud Khamis al Farsi. The forward beat Iraqi goalie Saqr Ajail with neat header off a Ahmed Khalfan Muhail cross from the left flank flag (3-1).
Ali Qasim Mshari scored his second in the 77th minute sending the ball in the near post off a head of Mustafa Nadhim Jari (4-1).
Irani referee Jahanbazi Yadollah sent off Ali Adnan Kadhim of Iraq in the 80th minute and Khalid Khalifa of Oman in the 84th minute due to double yelloow cards.
