National team draw with Sheikh Jamal
Dhaka, November 4 : Bangladesh national team staged a fightback to earn a 1-1 draw against Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in a practice match held at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.
Kestero Wueleu, the Nigerian forward of the defending Bangladesh League champions put his team ahead in the 42nd minute but national team midfielder Emon Babu equalized in seven minutes after the interval.
Kestero sneaked into the Bangladesh defence with a through pass of Sabuj and hit the back of the net with a low shot.
Emon Babu restored the parity after a combined effort and beat Jamal goalie Aminul with a cracking shot from the middle of the box.
Nikola Ilielvski tried almost all of his players in a rotating process and the U-19 youngsters Malek and Anik showed good temperament. Malek almost scored the winner in the dying stage of the match but was denied as substitute goalie Piru pulled out a good diving save.
Ilievski was not unhappy with the performance. “I am not unhappy as it is the first practice match, the players tried their best, I have to work hard with the level of fitness and my target is to win the SAFF Championship” said the Macedonian.
