Dhaka, December 18: Bangladesh Football Federation officially got the possession of Sylhet BKSP to turn it to a full fledged football academy on Sunday.
A five year deal between BFF and the BKSP was signed at the National Sports Council with BFF President Kazi Salahuddin and DG of BKSP Brig. Gen. M.M. Salehin signing the deal on behalf of their institutions.
As per deal BFF will run a football academy for the next five years and the contract will be a renewable one. The Sylhet BKSP, one of its four centres of sporting excellence around the country, is situated over 13 acres of land in Khadimnagar on the outskirts of Sylhet city.
BFF will pay monthly fifty thousand taka to BKSP authorities to run the academy at the BKSP which already has two football fields, a tennis court, a gymnasium, a swimming pool, and a boarding house with 42 rooms.
Kazi Salahuddin was elated with the development. “It is one of the historical moment of Bangladesh football, we have thought of setting an academy for a long time but could not materialize it, now with the help of the Prime Minister and the sports minister we have got it, we want to make it as a successful project” said the BFF president.
The BFF president said the scouting of the students will begin in January while the training is likely to start from March next. Initially two groups U-14 and U-18 will be enrolled in the academy.
Brig. Salehin said he has every hope that BFF will produce good quality footballers usng the infrastructure.
